Book Review: Inner Engineering by Sadhguru

Genre: Self-Help

If to say in a line, an absolutely correct book for my ever lazy body to dive right into the practice of yoga.

Now look, I'm the one who's been in just a mere thought of incorporating yoga as a practice in my life for two years now. All this, without taking the next step of starting to practice actually. So, are you the one who's planned to practice yoga but stuck at the thought itself doing nothing? Not taking a step forward or procrastinating over it? If yes, you are the correct person to read the book. It helps you take that next step. I assure you because I am there.

Sadhguru's simple language keeps the readers engaged. If you are the one who listens to his speeches often, you actually feel him reading to you through your glance at the words as you know his vocabulary. I say this from my own experience. For those who don't know? Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is a yogi, a mystic, and the founder of Isha Foundation, an all-volunteer organisation for social and environmental projects.

"The only way out is in."
                                  - Sadhguru

The book depicts about exploring oneself as a being, Speaking about three layers of identity classifying Body, Mind and Energy. Also, each chapter closes with a simple exercise to practice named "Sadhana". These Sadhanas actually help us in taking that first step to yoga slowly. Sadhguru called them the tools of self-exploration. They are easy to practice and doesn't require any special effort. Sadhguru poses some interesting questions throughout the book to make us think by ourselves. This book stands as a foundation for the Inner Engineering online program designed by Sadhguru. It paves a path towards self-exploration. Oh yes! The book also talks about balance, the balance of mind and body.

"The ability to simply look without motive is missing in the world today."
                            - Sadhguru

This book has helped me to think about myself for once, What is my inner self in need of? Who am I as a being? What can I do If I'm tended to be aware of myself? It showed me a new perspective on everything. It made me rethink the boundaries I have drawn for myself. I've found some beautiful quotes too. Some Sadhanas felt quite quirky to practice but, you know,😊 you can enjoy them actually. Haha!

"Yoga is the technology of upgrading, activating and refining the inner energies for the highest possibilities."
                                      - Sadhguru

It's interesting as to how Sadhguru has made this book look like an engineer's way. The book's so good that I'm now looking forward to taking the course offline when things get in place! Well, you know the situation we are in now, no need to speak about it right.
